Thank you to everyone who has tuned in to watch the Reverse Alzheimer’s Summit 4.0! Dr. Bredesen and I put in a lot of effort to bring you the latest information from a variety of experts.I appreciate all your feedback and questions.
One thing I consistently get asked is what supplements do I recommend for cognitive health. What supplements do the residents at Marama take? What do I prescribe in my clinic? What did I use in my clinical trial? The answer isn’t always that simple and it depends on each individual patient. It is why working with a practitioner and getting the correct labs can be very important.
There are a few standards that I can recommend. In this Tiktok video I discuss three little known supplements for cognition – Inositol, Pro-Resolving Mediators and Shilajit – and the benefits they provide.
In one of my past newsletters I also covered my top supplements for cognitive health:
You can re-read that newsletter here and learn why I recommend the above supplements and how they can improve your brain health.
I cannot recommend supplements without emphasizing the importance of quality and where you purchase your supplements.
While Amazon offers quick and often free shipping, many people are unaware that the supplements sold on this platform are frequently counterfeit. Even if genuine, they lack regulation in terms of storage and shipping standards, which can compromise their efficacy, especially when exposed to heat. Some individuals report receiving expired supplements through this channel.
A 2022 study on supplements purchases from Amazon found that “Seventeen of 30 products had inaccurate labels; 13 were misbranded, and 9 had additional components detected but not claimed on the label.”
To ensure the quality and authenticity of your supplements, I recommend purchasing from Fullscript and WholeScripts. These platforms offer a wide range of supplements, and you can be rest assured that the products are genuine and properly regulated.
As an added bonus, I’m offering my community a 10% discount on all supplements ordered via these platforms until the end of April.
Feel free to share this information with your family and friends, as they can also create their own accounts and benefit from the convenience and reliability of these platforms. Individual responses to supplements can vary, so consulting with a healthcare provider before starting any supplementation regimen is essential.
Warmly,
Dr. Heather Sandison
